Located on the northern pacific “sunshine” coast of Costa Rica, Nosara is an excellent showcase for the waves and an unparalleled location offering unique conditions for surfing for all levels. With broad and unobstructed western exposure to the Pacific Ocean, large tide swings, a sandy bottom and prevailing offshore winds, here you will be able to feel and experience the true spirit of surfing at walking distance from our hotel to one of the most friendly waves on the pacific coast of Costa Rica.

With 6 kilometers of unspoiled sand and ideal conditions for a variety of activities, this small town is a little slice of paradise in Guanacaste. Playa Guiones received Blue Flag under Costa Rica’s Blue Flag Ecological Program which awards beaches for its pristine, eco-friendly and well-maintained beaches.

Our Surf Coaching

Surfing is one of the most challenging, rewarding and playful activities in existence. If you’ve never experienced the joy of surfing yourself, there is no way to adequately explain the freedom and unique happiness that comes with conquering the ocean on a surfboard.

At Norte Surf & Yoga Hotel we strive toward excellence. We really care about your surfing experience from your very first white wash to your very first “barrel”. To make it happen, Norte Surf provides to our guests some of the most highly skilled & experienced surf coaches in the area justifying all many years of practice and teaching, all credited by the International Surfing Association.

At Norte Surf & Yoga Hotel we give surf lessons to people of all ages and for all levels. Surfing lessons are divided into three levels beginner, intermediate, advanced.. each with different theoretical and practical goals.

All of our surf lessons include the use of quality surfboards and all the equipment necessary for a quality experience.
All surf lessons can be teached fluently in Spanish, English, French

SURF FOR ADULTS

Participants

For people from the age of 13, at three different levels – beginner, intermediate and advanced. We provide Private lessons , Semi Private (2 people) and Groups from 4 students are organized according to level and ages.

Location

Lessons usually take place at Guiones beach northern entrance. However, given the needs of each level, they may be taught in different places along the West Coast, like Ostional beach, Barrigona beach, Garza beach, Marbella beach, Camaronal beach. The trip to the beach will be made on foot or in a car, depending where the lesson is based.

Duration

Each session lasts 90 minutes on the beach. When it is necessary to travel to another beach outside Guiones beach, the activity can last up to 3 to 4 hours.

Gear

Surfboards (soft-board or hardboard), rashguards, leash, wax.

Amenities

Shower, lockers, hot or cold drink, pool

Constraints

Weather, sea conditions and tides. Physical and health limitations. Bookings and cancellations must be done until 8pm the day before. Subject to availability.

SURF FOR KIDS

Participants

For children between 6 and 12 years old, at three different levels – beginner, intermediate and advanced. We provide Private lessons, Semi Private (2 kids) and Groups from 4 students and more. Safety first, we allocate one surf instructor for maximum two kids.

Location

Lessons usually take place at Guiones Beach Northern Entrance.

Duration

Each session lasts 60 min to 90 min on the beach.

Surfboard (soft-board or hardboard), rashguard, leash, wax.

Amenities

Shower, lockers, hot or cold drink, pool

Constraints

Weather, sea conditions and tides. Physical and health limitations. Bookings and cancellations must be done until 8pm the day before. Subject to availability.

In the water: Equipped with professional water housing, only for intermediate and advanced surfers our professional photographer will be happy to swim out with you to shoot some of the most epic action surfing photos and look at yourself surfing from another angle.

In the Air: Equipped with one of the last generation DJI mini pro 3 Drone, Norte Surf provides a Photos & Videos Drone Service allowing you to keep the best memories of your surfing vacation in Playa Guiones with scenic 4k aerial images.
